Who we are:
EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.
We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.
As a Python Developer for Accelerator Physics Applications, you will play an important role within our dedicated Accelerator Concept, Design and Commissioning Group and have the unique opportunity to work with a particle accelerator. Your role will involve designing and implementing automated commissioning procedures for our particle accelerators. You will also program and maintain tools that interface physics models with the particle accelerator. You will be working in a purpose-driven environment and your skills will help us make a real difference to patients' lives.

A job where you can make a difference:
- Design and implement effective automated commissioning procedures for our particle accelerators
- Develop and optimize software for precise analysis of data from our beam detectors
- Program and maintain tools that interface physics models with the particle accelerators and their control systems
- Implement unit and end-to-end tests, as well as scripts for efficient deployment of our software solutions
Skills that make you our strength:
- Completed academic studies (preferable: Bachelor or Master degree) in software engineering,
physics, mathematics or similar - Practical experience developing with Python 3
- Familiarity with version control systems (SVN, GIT) is an advantage
- Proficiency in data processing using numpy and pandas
- Skills in data visualization using matplotlib
- Knowledge of GUI development with pyQt/pyside is an advantage
- Fluency in verbal and written English; German is an advantage
- Solid MS Office knowledge
- Willingness to work on call
- Willingness to work in shifts
- Analytical skills and an affinity for facts and figures
- You are a flexible person with an independent and structured approach to work.
For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum gross annual salary for this position is € 46,200.
However, our attractive salary packages are based on current market salaries.
