Who we are:
EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.
We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.
As a Junior Medical Frontend Expert, you will play an important role within our dedicated Accelerator Concept, Design and Commissioning Group and have the unique opportunity to work with a particle accelerator. You’ll be participating in the beam commissioning of our accelerators and the systems engineering process with focus on the safety critical medical frontend subsystem. Also hands on work with system components is part of your job. You will be working in a purpose-driven environment and your skills will help us make a real difference to patients' lives.

Junior Medical Frontend Expert (f/m/x)
A job where you can make a difference:
- Participate in the development, installation and commissioning of a safety critical subsystem (“medical frontend”) of our particle therapy accelerators
- Contribute to technical product documentation needed for certification, installation, commissioning and operation
- Participate in the systems engineering process for the medical frontend including elaboration of requirements, test strategies and risk analysis in accordance with the Medical Device Regulation and associated standards
- Provide expert level support for the medical frontend (on-call) and participate in debugging and quality assurance tasks
Skills that make you our strength:
- Completed academic studies (Bachelor, Master, DI or PhD) in Medical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar
- Good understanding of complex systems (Interplay between multiple soft- and hardware systems)
- Knowledge of medical standards (EN/IEC 60601 family, EN/IEC 62304, ISO 13485, MDR) and state of the art safety technology is an asset
- Fluency in verbal and written English; German is an advantage
- Programming languages such as Python, C++ and LabView are an asset
- Solid MS Office knowledge
- Willingness to work on call (up to 5 days per month)
- Willingness to work in shifts (up to 20% of working time)
- Analytical skills and an affinity for facts and figures
- You are a flexible person with an independent and structured approach to work
For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum gross annual salary for this position is € 46,200. However, our attractive salary packages are based on current market salaries.
